In Georgia, when you have a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.08 grams or more, or if you refuse to be tested, you will face a series of consequences. The suspension of your license usually occurs before the criminal case is heard. You may also have an additional hearing before an Administrative Law Judge regarding administrative suspension.

If you are under the age of 21, the blood alcohol concentration limit is 0.02 grams (note 0.04 grams for person operating a commercial vehicle); there are additional requirements and limitations imposed.

A conviction of drug possession while driving may also result in the suspension of a driver’s license. Conviction of Boating Under the Influence (BUI) will also result in suspension of privileges to operate a boat or vessel on the water within the state.
